Locally owned vacation rentals in walkable Egg Harbor, Door County—designed for a relaxed, authentic stay with historic charm, modern comfort, and sunset strolls to the waterfront & village.
Whether you grew up visiting a cottage “up north” or simply imagined it, Sparrow & Key is designed to capture that feeling. It’s the kind of place that settles into your heart—one guests return to year after year, drawn back by the same feeling, like a sparrow finding its way home.
Our three locally owned vacation rentals sit at the quieter south end of Egg Harbor, where tree-lined streets give way to waterfront sunsets, local coffee shops, boutiques, breweries, and unhurried mornings.
Each stay has its own character—from a restored 1930s Sears cottage to a thoughtfully designed studio tucked among the trees—but all share the same intention: preserving the historic charm of these spaces while offering modern comfort, walkable access to the village, and thoughtful details that make you feel genuinely cared for.
Each home is private from each other with a shared drive, but if you need more space rent 2 or all 3 spaces for a group gathering. This is a place to settle in, slow down, and experience Door County in a way that feels relaxed, personal, and deeply connected to where you are.

As a Door County local, Erin shares favorite spots for dining, trails, shops, and seasonal experiences—so you can explore like you belong here.
Each space is thoughtfully set up with the details that make your stay feel easy, comfortable, and just a little more special.
I’m a fifth-generation Door County local, born and raised on the peninsula, and the owner of Patricia Shoppe here in Egg Harbor.
Door County has always been more than home to me—it’s something you feel. A connection to the water, the seasons, and a community that runs deep.
My daughter and I spend as much time outdoors as we can, moving with that rhythm. In the summer, you’ll find us sailing or paddleboarding. In the colder months, we’re ice skating, cross-country skiing, or out on the trails. No matter the season, we’re always chasing sunsets, moons, and northern lights.
We love to travel and experience other places, but every time we come home, we’re reminded just how special this peninsula is. That perspective shapes how I host—creating spaces that feel calm, thoughtful, and easy to settle into, with a quiet kind of care behind the scenes.
When you stay with Sparrow & Key, you’re experiencing Door County through the perspective of someone who knows it deeply and truly loves it. Many of my guests return year after year, and I take that as the highest compliment. When living in Portugal one winter season we loved the ceramic sparrows they placed near their doors- they are migratory birds that return to the exact same place every year to build their nests, they are viewed as a symbol of home, happiness, and family.
Guests return year after year, often bringing friends and family along.
All three rentals are located at the quiet south end of Egg Harbor’s village, within easy walking distance of the beach, marina, restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques. Most guests never need their car once they arrive. The beach is roughly an 8 to 10 minute walk, and the village center is even closer.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome at the Village Cottage. We ask that pets be leashed outdoors and kept off furniture indoors. The nearby dog park, walkable streets, and green spaces make Egg Harbor a wonderful destination for traveling with your pup. The Tree House does not accommodate pets.
The Village Tree House is ideal for couples — a stylish, intimate studio with a king bed, record player, and private deck. The Village Cottage is perfect for families and small groups, with three bedrooms, a private yard, campfire pit, and room for up to six guests. Both are walkable to everything Egg Harbor offers.
Not at all. Fall brings stunning foliage, scenic drives, and uncrowded hiking trails. Winter is peaceful and cozy, ideal for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and quiet village evenings. Spring offers blooming gardens and early-season charm. Each season on the peninsula has its own personality, and our cottages welcome guests year-round.
